Contemporary practice

Public speaking confidence

A contemporary three-rune practice for the moment when another slide edit is taking the place of rehearsing your talk.

I will say my opening lines aloud and notice what needs practice.

Why these three runes

Isa

Pause: leave the slide edits alone when they become a way to avoid rehearsal.

Ansuz

Voice: speak your first two lines aloud in a comfortable position.

Kenaz

Craft: notice one stumble or awkward phrase you can work on after the spoken attempt.

How to work with it

  1. Write the first two lines of your talk. Briefly picture saying them, then name the pull toward another silent edit.
  2. Draw Isa, Ansuz, and Kenaz in that order beneath the lines. Trace the row while saying the intention once.
  3. If another slide edit is replacing rehearsal, leave the slides as they are. Sit or stand comfortably and say the first two lines aloud once.
  4. Write down one stumble or awkward phrase to work on, or note if none stood out. Record the attempt even if you still feel self-conscious.

Your if-then plan: If I start adjusting my slides again to avoid saying the opening, then I leave the slides as they are, sit or stand comfortably, and speak the first two lines aloud once.

The honest layer

For practicing your own opening lines. It makes no performance, examination, or audience-response promise. Any effect specific to this rune combination is [unverified]. This is a modern symbolic practice, not an attested ancient formula. The drawing supports attention and action; it does not replace either.
